A Schools Trust with 17 sites achieved a £45,000 annual saving, after they teamed-up with Water Plus –moving all its sites to them. Water Plus helped deliver the cost reduction result through its customer service approach, knowledge and expertise around water management.
The Challenge
A Schools Trust was facing higher water bills as they felt they were being overcharged for surface water. Despite previous attempts to resolve the issue with other organisations, they received no help. They needed a trusted, knowledgeable and experienced partner to deliver the results they needed.
The Solution
The Trust partnered with Water Plus, who offered expertise in water billing and cost analysis.
An Account Manager at Water Plus, who works with the Trust, outlined the best route to take to look into the cost bands, which are set by wholesalers and all water retailers are required to include on customer bills.
Water Plus requested a site review for the Nottingham secondary school, to check where surface water was draining for one of the Trust’s secondary schools.
The Results
The Trust achieved a £45,000 annual saving through a reimbursement from the wholesaler for the surface water charging banding change.
The reimbursement from the wholesaler was completed in March 2024, following the Water Plus work for the customer.
Additionally, Water Plus discussed further cost savings through improved water efficiency measures. The Trust also experienced improved customer service compared to previous attempts to resolve the issue.
